Westward Bound for QuickBooks Connect Conference & Intuit Reseller Meetings
So, let us start with the fun portion of the trip. I took a few extra days to go to LA with my girlfriend Jenn. It was her first time to LA and California. We had an excellent host who took us up in his plane, a nice single engine, where saw the famous Valley then went over Topanga Canyon to fly up and down the Malibu Coast. From there we went over Beverly Hills, Hollywood and then to Downtown LA and back to the airport. It was a spectacular tour.
Next, it was on to San Jose for the Second QuickBooks Connect Conference (QBCC) and Intuit Resellers Meeting (IRP). Not only am I a partner with Intuit as a ProAdvisor, but I am also a Reseller. That means I can sell…
- QuickBooks Enterprise
- Point of Sale
- Full Service Payroll
- Intuit Merchant Services
The second QBCC improved on the already great experience I had at the first even. They took what we learned from the previous event and expanded on those programs. There were more tracks on:
- QBO Certifications
- Practice development
While last year I concentrated on QBO certifications, this year I focused in on building my practice. I attended tracks on:
- Improving my use of LinkedIn (taught by local ProAdvisor Barry MacGuire)
- Boosting my web presence (BTW — welcome to the new website!)
- Offering my clients value billing by getting rid of hourly billing (I will be writing in more detail about this in the future).
They had great speakers who talked about their small businesses and how to build your brand. Did you know that Jessica Alba owns an online store called The Honest Company with $170 million in sales? The list of speakers be found on QuickBooksConnect.com, but the apex was Oprah. She is an incredibly powerful and moving speaker.
I got to meet with other ProAdvisors to exchange ideas and solutions, to establish relationships that will last a long time, to have people to reach out to when I need help (it does happen). I met with Intuit executives and had some very interesting chats. I wish good luck to Luis Sanchez as he departs the Pro Advisor program for another position in Intuit.
I spent last day-and-a-half there in small breakout sessions with different Intuit Product Managers and Sales people. I am also proud to say that I have graduated from being an Authorized Reseller to Premier Reseller. I would say the highlight of all these meetings was meeting the Merchant Services (credit card processing) team. I used to think of them as just the people who want to add another customer to the Intuit Machine, but that they are fun people who do care about my clients and do want to be competitive with the other processors out there.
To wrap up, it was fun, educational and inspiring!
